Ritual Decisions

The structure of Minyan Tehillah’s services has been created by drawing upon precedents set by other Partnership Minyanim, upon halachic analyses presented by Daniel Sperber and Mendel Shapiro in their respective articles (published in The Edah Journal - - please insert link here], as well upon the recommendations of our halachic advisors. In light of the transience of our ritual leadership, Tehillah is currently in the process of forming a new ritual committee. If you are interested in learning more, contact Alanna Cooper, current ritual committee chair, at ritual@minyantehillah.org

Structure of Minyan Tehillah Services

At Minyan Tehillah, the prayer service begins with a woman leading psukei d’zimra. A man then leads shaharit, a women leads the service associated with taking the Torah out of the ark (and returning it), and a man leads mussaf .

Both women and men receive aliyot and read from the Torah. We are careful to separate men and women at the shulchan, by calling up a man for an aliya only when a man is slated to chant that aliya, and calling up a woman for an aliya only when a woman is slated to chant that aliya.

Any questions regarding the structure of services should be directed to ritual@minyantehillah.org
